Zane's first National Park

Over Memorial Day weekend Zane visited Lassen Volcanic National Park. Although he has hiked with Daddy a few times before, this was his first time in a national treasure. Yes, grandparents do not fret, we did hike a volcano with Zane in tote. We managed to bypass some initial fears that we were "on glue" and successfully hiked Cinder Cone. (For those that might visit Lassen - we highly recommend this moderate hike. It gives breathtaking panoramic views and although it is technically difficult, it is a lot of fun!) What should be a 2 hour hike, took us 4, but with Daddy carrying Zane and Mommy 3 months post-prego, we were very proud to accomplish this. Zane's photo album has a few of the shots, but a link in our "Zeiner Odds and Ends" (Updated 6/3) page will give you all of the vacation photographs.

This weekend marked Gusti and Dianna's 4 year anniversary, and with tradition we visited our 11th National Park together. Last year at this time we wished to build our family, now we have our Zane. What a difference a year can make!

Hey Char, it's your cousin Jennifer in Dallas. This is such a cool site. I am glad I can keep up with you guys this way.

Our family is a camping family as well. Our kids have been at parks, sleeping in tents since they were 6 months old. (Tory was a bit older, about 14 months for her) Zane will develop a love for the outdoors like our kids have.
Doug was afraid at first. Last month he received his Eagle Award in Scouting. We think all the camping had something to do with that.

Will keep in touch. Much love to you all.

Great blog. I like the picture of Diana breast feeding at Lassyn. But, this blog is making us normal fathers feel quit inferior (i.e. Me). Now Carolyn is bugging me about keeping up with the Zeiner's. My self-imposed job is not to keep up with but to leap frog the Zeiner's.....
